THE MECHANIX LAMENT

I can fix an engine so it will sing

It will sing its little heart out because it has so few requirements

If it has sufficient oil

If its little bearings

Big bearings Bubba

Are in alignment and all of its reciprocating parts

Are balanced one to another.

It sings because it has all that it needs but nothing that it doesn’t

So why wouldn’t it sing?

Why wouldn’t it shout to the heavens with a song

Because its song is a good one

It’s a great one

It will bring thunder

If it were so easy to fix people

They reciprocate one to another

But have so few of their opposing parts in alignment

So that like meets like

How can there not be fractions, friction, destruction?

If there were a way to align their opposing parts

So that the better self of each one

Could see the light of day

That would be something new

When you see suffering people that live with us daily

It becomes an overwhelming

How can one save them all?

Should one try?

Or to the point it seems

That everything one does to stop the suffering

Is but a drop of soothing oil

But it needs an ocean

And all your efforts are less than nothing

Worthless

But to the one you saved

That less than nothing is all

And it can be all to your better self

If you let it be

Sometimes you just have to let it be
